Zane Smith used lapped-traffic to pass teammate Chase Purdy with nine laps to go in Sunday’s Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway. Smith would lead the final nine circuits to capture his third ARCA victory of 2018.
“I had to work so hard to get back to Chase (Purdy)…he got me on that last restart,” said Smith in a release on arcaracing.com. “Our cars were pretty-much dead-even. I knew we were going to catch lappers sooner or later. When we got there, I just thought it through and split him and a lapper going into (turn) three.”
Purdy had taken the lead from Smith on a restart with 25 laps to go. Caught in lapped traffic, Purdy allowed Smith to get to the inside of Purdy with 9 laps left. The moved proved to be the winning one for Smith.
Joseph Graf Jr. finished third and was the last car on the lead lap. Chandler smith started on the pole and finished 4th. Brett Holmes rounded out the top-five.
