Conneaut, OH (May 30, 2018) — The 2018 racing season is in full swing after a soggy spring and continues this Friday at Raceway 7 with “Driver Appreciation Night”, a night when several racing-oriented companies reward drivers for their continued support of the sport they love. Regular racing programs in all five classes will be presented with special awards given out throughout the program. Among companies participating are Close Racing Supply, Bazell Racing Fuels, NAPA Girard, McDonald Connors Racing, Bonnie and Gary Neubauer of Amsoil, and RUSH.
After two weeks of racing Darrell Bossard leads Breyton Santee, Dave Airgood, Zach Kane, and Chad Sines in the Evergreen Lake Park Campground RUSH Crate Late Model standings. Bossard led the way opening night and Genco, in his first visit to Raceway 7 since 2009, prevailed last week.
Defending champion Joel Watson leads Gary Eicher in the Bonnell’s Collision Center E-Mod title chase. Each has an early season win. Troy Johnson, Bud Watson, and Billy Henry fill out the top five. Watson’s lead is a mere five points over Eicher.
Jason Fosnaught has not yet scored a feature win but leads the Campbell’s Mini Storage Street Stock points over Chris McGuire and Mike Clark (tied) by only three markers. Opening night winner Pat Fielding is fourth with Paul Schreckengost fifth. Last week’s winner Curt Bish, is eighth.
Defending champion Steve Haefke leads the Bonnell’s Auto Sales Economod standings by eight points over Eric Reinwald, the opening night victor. Buzz Seitz is third with Dustin DeMattia fourth and Matt Alexander fifth.
Zack Downes has dominated the early season in the Sunnyside Farm Transit Mini Stock competition with two feature wins in two weeks, one heat win, and a second in a heat race. Can he be beat this season? Last year, in six appearances, he scored six wins. Reigning champion Joe Campbell will be working hard to prevent Downes from totally dominating the season, as will former champion Brad Cole. Both Dillon Speer and Shawn McBride have had strong starts to the season and should be a factor in the title chase.
