Conneaut, OH (July 24, 2020): On another warm, sunny, and post-card style summer evening 99 cars over five classes signed into the pit area of Raceway 7 for a regular program of heat and feature racing. When racing was complete one new face and four repeaters were in Victory Lane. The new face was Jason Black, who won his first Raceway 7 Street Stock feature. Pat Hanlon prevailed in the Mini Stock finale, Bill Watson won the Economod feature, reigning class champion Mike Kinney captured the E-Mod finale, and Matt Latta got his second consecutive RUSH late Model win.

The Mini Stocks were the first class to run their feature with Pat Hanlon and Jessica Harvey holding the front row spots. Harvey was looking for her third win of the season while Hanlon was going for his first. Hanlon took off with the lead with Harvey, Chris Bugielski, Corey Wick, and Dalton Speer filling out the top five. The first caution flew at lap two when debris littered turn three. On lap four Daniel Telisman spun in turn one and headed pitside under caution. The running order was now Hanlon, Harvey, Emily Stoyer, from eighth on the grid, Speer, and Bugielski. With three down Kevin Watson spun on the main straight into the infield and knocking down two billboards. He then headed to the safety of the track center. Stoyer and Hanlon were side by side for the lead at the end of four with Hanlon holding it at five laps and Harvey gaining second. At halfway it was Stoyer, Hanlon, defending class champion Mark Lawrence, Harvey, and Speer. At lap six, on turn two, Lane Reinwald came to a halt near the wall and needed towed from the scene. The top five at lap eight were Stoyer, Hanlon, Lawrence, Harvey, and Speer. At nine laps Lawrence and Hanlon were side by side behind for second behind Harvey. Another caution flew at lap nine when Trisha Jacklett and J R Glover stopped in turn two. With two to go, Lawrence turned into Stoyer on the backstretch, sending her into the retaining fence, collecting Harvey in the process. The ambulance was needed with Stoyer being transported to a local hospital for observation. For his part in the incident, Lawrence was sent to the rear for the restart. On the green Ana Vassen wound up hitting the retaining wall on the front straight after contact with a car that had been turned into her, needing towed from the racing surface. The final two laps then went without incident with Hanlon getting his first win of the season over Dalton Speer, Zoey Gill, Nick Eck, and Alan Sousa.

Street Stocks were next with Ed Bolyard and Tim Burns leading the charge to green. At turn four second-running Paul Davis spun, necessitating a complete restart. When lap one was finished Bolyard led Burns, Gary Miller, Jason Black, and Joe Stajnragh, who won his first feature on June 26. Black came to third on the back straight of lap three with Curt Bish Jr coming into the top five as well. Yellow was shown at lap four when Jonathan Davis and Tom Teed spun in turn four. For green it was Bolyard, Tim Burns, Black, Miller, and Bish the top five. At five laps Black was third with Wesley McCray now up to fifth. In turns one and two at lap eight Black was challenging Bolyard for the lead but was unable to complete the pass. At nine laps, Black was finally able to get by for the lead when Teed again spun as the leaders completed the lap. With five to go Black led Tim Burns, McCray, Bolyard, and Stajnragh. With two to go Jamie Duncan spun in turn four. David Baker’s run at this point was exemplary with him starting nineteenth (last) and working his was up to eighth. Unfortunately mechanical woes struck and he had to head pitside on the caution. At the finish it was Black for his first win at Raceway7. Following him across the stripe were Burns, McCray, Bolyard, and Stajnragh.

The Economod feature started with Hayden Loomis and Mike Harmon up front, but it was third-starting Bill Watson coming to the lead by turn one. Dustin Demattia and Jeremy Double spun in turn four but Demattia never stopped, so was not charged with the caution. Then Jarrett Young came to a stop in turn four. For the restart it was Watson, Nate Young, Garrett Calvert, Bill Cunningham, and Demattia. Kevin Vanderhoof spun in turn one, slowing the race on lap three, then on the restart Mike Harmon spun in turn two. At four laps it was Watson, Nate Young, Calvert, and Zack Lenart side by side with Bill Cunningham for fourth. Demattia got back to fifth at lap five then yellow appeared on lap six when Hayden Loomis spun in turn two while Nate Young did the same at turn four. At halfway it was Watson, Lenart, Calvert, Demattia, and Matt Alexander. Demattia and Calvert were side by side for third at lap nine. At ten laps Loomis spun again, this time in front of the leaders. On the green Calvert, Demattia, and John Boyd all spun in turn four with Boyd being the only car able to continue. Watson now led Lenart, Alexander, Bill Cunningham, and Justin Sax. At eleven laps Bill Cunningham went way wide in turn two, falling all the way back to tenth. The final caution of the race fell at lap twelve when Dale Reiser spun in turn four. On the restart Jarrett Young was penalized two spots for “jumping the start”. Nate Young came to fifth on lap fourteen, then fourth at the finish. The top five wound up being Watson, Lenart, Alexander, Nate Young, and Jeremy Double.

Joe Long and Matt Latta brought the RUSH Late Model feature to green with Latta leading from the start. Caution flew in two when Dennis Dellinger spun in turns three and four. At three laps it was Latta leading former champion Darrell Bossard, Joe Long, Breyton Santee, Jason Genco, and another former champion, Kyle Zimmerman. At halfway Tyler Allison spun in turn four. As the field was coming to green he stopped on the back straight, again causing caution to be displayed. Genco came to fourth at lap eleven with Long back up in fifth. At thirteen, Genco was third. Long and Zimmerman were side by side for fourth at six to go when Allison spun for his third caution, sending him pitside. The order was now Latta, Santee, Genco, Bossard, and Long. Genco was second at fifteen laps, but Latta was pulling away, lengthening the gap from .2 second at lap sixteen, to .716 second at lap seventeen. The final caution was with the white flag flying when Jonathan Stockdale and Dylan Goodman spun in turn four. The top five wound up being Latta, Genco, Santee, Bossard, and Zimmerman.

Brent Rhebergen and Randy Hall brought the E-Mod field to green with Hall gaining the lead in turn two with Rhebergen, defending champion Mike Kinney, Josh McDonald, and Dennis Lunger following. Joel Watson was fifth at two laps, McDonald was challenging for the lead at lap six but Kinney held him off. At turn four on lap seven it was three-wide for the lead among Rhebergen, Kinney, and McDonald with Kinney in sole possession of second at eight laps behind Hall. At nine laps Kinney was the leader by .050 second, extending it to .479 at the halfway point. McDonald was second at this point over Hall, Rhebergen, and Watson, who was fourth at lap twelve. Yellow flew at lap fourteen when Jeff Johnson came to a stop in turn two at the head of the backstretch. For green it was Kinney, McDonald, Hall, Rhebergen, and Watson leading the way. Watson got back to fourth at lap sixteen, then third at seventeen. With two laps remaining, McDonald’s stellar run ended with a slide up to the turn two wall. Although he did not hit the wall, he fell back to sixth. The final rundown was Kinney, Watson, Rhebergen, Hall, and McDonald getting back to the top five.
