Another great turn out for each of the six divisions set to battle it out on the Hill.
First out for the night were the Crozier Welding Trucks running feature only. Pole sitter, Travis Hare would bring the field off four to the green where he would take the early lead. Hare would not be unchallenged as Dwayne Powell and Rolly Heyder were a close second and third. Powell putting the pressure on Hare with eight laps down as caution would come out. Single file back to the green, Hare would again claim the top spot. Meanwhile, Heyder would make his move and around Powell to secure second. Heyder, setting his sights on Hare, side by side the two would go down the back stretch with eleven laps down. Hare able to maintain his lead would continue to fend off Heyder lap after lap. Finally, as the checkered dropped, it was ‘Wild Hare’ Travis Hare picking up his second ever feature win. Heyder would finish second followed by Dwayne Powell, Blake Ripley, and David Reed.
Setting fast time among fifteen Holmes Tire late models was Brandon Francis with a 14.933. Francis would also pick up heat race one and Rick Mardis would take heat two. With the field set, the green was out. Pole sitter, Francis would take the lead as Corey Conley worked his way around Mardis to claim second. Eleven laps in the books, Francis would begin working his way through lap traffic and distancing himself from Conley. Caution, with fourteen laps down, would provide Conley the opportunity needed to challenge Francis. However, once back under green, Francis would again secure the top spot over Conley. Closing in on eight to go, caution would fly once again, setting up one last restart to the green. With the final restart in the books, and the checkered flag in the air, it was Brandon Francis parking it in victory lane for his first feature win of the year. Rounding out the top five was Corey Conley, Rick Mardis, Rick Conley, and Dave Hornikel.
Next division to roll onto the track were the Bugs-R-Gone modifieds with a field of fifteen. Setting fast time was Kyle Moore with a 15.885. Heat race winners were Jesse Wisecarver and Jess Hartman. Bringing the field to the green, pole sitter, Wisecarver would take the early lead as a three-way battle for second would ensue between Hartman, Kyle Moore, and DJ Cline. Unfortunately, contact between Moore and Hartman, would force a caution and Hartman to restart tail. Back under green, Wisecarver would again take the top spot, however, challenged by Moore. Four laps down, coming off turn four, Moore would secure the lead. Eleven laps down, Moore would begin working his way through lap traffic as DJ Cline challenged Wisecarver for second. Caution with five to go would set up a final restart. Back under green, Moore would retain the top spot as Cline worked his way around Wisecarver to secure second. However, unable to close in on Moore as he would go on to add to his feature wins for the season. Fourth went Robin Dustin and fifth Jason Brennan.
Brad Hensel and Tyler Nicely would each pick up a heat race win in the street stock division placing them in the night’s top three redraw. With the line up set, Jim Nicely and Hensel would take the green. Hensel would jump out front over Nicely as Michael Amick looked in. Amick, working his way around Nicely to claim second would set his sight’s on Hensel. All over Hensel’s bumper, Amick would make his move three laps down and take the lead. Hensel, undeterred, would challenge back. Lap after lap, the top two would battle for the top position. Eleven laps down, caution would come out, bunching the field up to the restart. Back under green, Amick would retain the lead with Hensel trying everything to make the pass. However, unable to do so as the checkered would drop with Michael Amick sitting in victory lane. Hensel would finish second followed by David Potts, Tyler Nicely and Kevin Potts.
The Snyder Hot Shot Truck and Trailer modlites had a field of eighteen with heat race wins going to Braxton Wilson and Jimmy Smith. Front row, Wilson and Tim Callahan would set the pace to the green. Callahan taking the early lead. Five laps in, Smith, who stated fourth, would challenge for the lead, securing off turn four. Smith, no stranger to the top spot would fend off his competition, picking up another feature win on the year. Second went to Clint Snyder, third Cody Stillion, fourth Darrell Mayer, and fifth DJ Cline.
The night’s events concluded with the Short Track Safety Team mini stocks with a field of twenty-four. Heat race winners were Ed Geary, Doug Hensel, and Cory Staley. The last chance race was won by Brad Hensel. With a top three redraw, Dustin Bedlion and Darrin Thornsley would sit on the front row for their feature. As the green dropped, Thornsley would take the lead one lap down. However, challenged by Cory Staley who would secure the lead. With Staley out front, ninth place starter, Doug Hensel would work his way through the field up to second, pressuring Staley for the lead. Six laps down, Hensel would get the runoff of four to take the top spot. Eight laps down and navigating through lap traffic, Colton St. John, would challenge Staley for second, securing, nine laps down. However, unable to surpass Doug Hensel as he would remain out front picking up back to back wins. St. John was followed by Staley, Billy Parsons, and Darrin Thornsley.
