Staff Report

For the first time in his career, Hudson O’Neal sits atop the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series standings. The 20-year old captured the lead on lap 9 and held on following a late restart to win the Buckeye Spring 50 Sunday at Atomic Speedway. O’neal took the lead from Dresden, Ohio native Devin Moran.

A caution with 2 laps remaining stacked the field up, but O’Neal was able to drive away on the restart, beating Tim McCreadie to the line by .563 seconds. Moran finished third, Jonathan Davenport came home fourth and Kyle Bronson completed the top-five.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is back on track on April 17 at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Maryland. The series returns to Ohio in July, visiting Portsmouth Raceway Park on July 2 and Muskingum County Speedway on July 3. For the complete Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series schedule click here.
